INVITATIONS
The invitations sent can add an extra element of fun and excitement to
the anticipated party. It can match the theme of the party, highlight
the age of the birthday child, or be personalized by the birthday child
with stickers or pictures.
Remember the invitation needs to have the following information:
Location of the party and a map if necessary
Starting and ending time
whether parents are invited
Special activities that might require special clothing
An RSVP date including your full name and phone number (home, work,
cell, pager, e-mail address) where you can be reached
If the child is of school age, consider mailing invitations. This prevents
the possibility of invitations getting lost or hurt feelins of uninvited
classmates.
DECORATIONS
Decorations will depend on where your party is held and upon the them.
Streamers, cardboard cut-outs and paper honeycomb decor are always in
good taste. Balloons add an extra element of fun, also. Tie one to each
childs chair, place in clusters around the room, and tie a few
to your mailbox to create an inexpensive flair.
PARTY FAVORS
These can vary from a goodie or loot bag with
stickers, pencils, candy and plastic toys to items that were created
at the party, such as self-decorated T-shirts, friendship bracelets
or Beady Buddys. Personalize plactic tumblers with the childrens
names to be used during cake time, or filled with little trinkets to
take home.
FOOD
Keep the food simple. Children are happy with pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers,
or chicken nuggets. Of course, their favorite food will be the cake!
A fun alternative to the traditional birthday cake is using cupcakes
instead, so everydaone gets to blow out candles and make a wish.
ENTERTAINMENT
Hiring entertainment for the party can be well worth the expense! Kids
love it and it will free you up to prepare food or begin cleaning up.
A clown, face or a tatto-painter, magician or puppeteer are just a few
you might consider. Depending on the season and budget, you can schedule
your party around the entertainment.
